What is QFan ? |
The
14cm QFan is Thermaltake’s innovative patent technology possessing a
unique 360° frameless design and a 5-way air inlet, greatly increase
the air flow and reduce the noise of wind shear.
(Please see Figure 1, Figure 2) |
Why use QFan ? |
The
QFan special five way air-intake housing design creates the best heat
dissipation environment for the frameless 14cm QFan at minimal noise
level. Therefore, the fan generates only 15dB noise level at less than
20% of rated load without compromising performance. (Please see Figure 3, Figure 4, Figure 5) |
How QFan performances ? |
The 14cm QFan effectively decreases the noise level inside the PSU. See test results below: |

Conclusion: At 500W, Thermaltake's Qfan enabled offerings finally manage to earn a recommendation here at jonnyGURU.com due to an ever so slightly better price. While it ain't the purtiest unit I ever did see, the Toughpower 500W Qfan is a nice, quiet, and capable unit that should serve well any lower powered system out there for a long time to come.
Conclusion: With the Thermaltake Toughpower Qfan 500W, Thermaltake has constructed a solid power supply unit with stabile lines, which addresses anyone with a mid-end system. The modular cables, as well as the relatively low noise level, improve the overall impression of the Thermaltake Toughpower Qfan 500W.
Conclusion: Because of the extremely good acoustics performance, very good build quality and strong electrical performance, the ThermalTake ToughPower Q-fan 500W unit receives our Editors Choice Award.
Conclusion: The results are very positive – with a very high 85+ percent efficiency and high PFC across the board. The only slight drop was when we loaded the 3.3V and 5V fully – the efficiency dropped to a fraction above 80 percent, but that still keeps it in the 80Plus range. In respect though, no one will ever need it in the real world but it's good to see Thermaltake successfully achieving what the PSU claims it can do.
Conclusion: Thermaltake's Toughpower QFan 650W is awarded the Techcentral.de's Silver Oscar award for absolute stability with silent operation.
Conclusion: With excellent DC load voltage regulation, good DC quality and efficiency of over 80% I would highly recommend the Thermaltake Toughpower QFan 650W power supply. I have no doubt it will easily power most mid to high end systems with a single graphics card but if you are considering a dual card set-up do your research first and ensure compatibility with your intended system. I don't like to give too many OCC Gold Awards but this one leaves me no choice.
Conclusion: The ThermalTake Toughpower is certainly tough. I was impressed when the Corsair tx750 was able to supply sufficient power to my power-hungry system Imagine my face when nVidia's drivers didn't warn me of insufficient power when I installed the Toughpower 650W!
Conclusion: I see no reason not to highly recommend this power supply. With four independent 12V rails providing stable power, it is a fine choice for an overclocked rig. The 140mm Qfan does it job as well with its nearly silent operation even when under heavy load. In fact, this is the quietest PSU I've worked with that wasn't fanless.
Conclusion: The results were excellent for this power supply. Everything ran fine during testing, the system was stable and performed the tests as expected. During the tests, the fan speed varied from low to a medium speed and could not be heard over the system fans which are what I consider quiet. When the system is idle or doing simple tasks, the fan runs quietly, spins slowly and is not noticeable at all.
Conclusion: Thermaltake has not disappointed with its latest Toughpower QFan series of power supplies. The QFan 650 is a solid, high-quality supply that I feel would have no problem putting other higher-rated but lower-quality units to shame. The UL indicated manufacturer of this device is Channelwell, a company well known for producing very high-grade power supplies for a variety of resellers such as Antec and XClio as well as Thermaltake. One look at the specification and feature list should tell you that this is one power supply that takes no prisoners.
Conclusion: The performance and near silent operation of this power supply are definitely top notch, making it worth considering for a mid-range gaming system or HTPC. The key is finding a good deal, and being sure that the arrangement of hard-wired and modular cables will work for your build.
Conclusion: Thermaltake has not disappointed with its latest Toughpower QFan series of power supplies. One look at the specification and feature list should tell you that this is one power supply that takes no prisoners.
Conclusion: Very silent, good temperatures and generous cable lengths.
Conclusion: The Thermaltake ToughPower QFan 850W is a totally silent and powerful PSU. With the hi-tech black and stylish housing and the unique QFan technology design will definitely attract a lot of enthusiasts. With the dual 12V rails of power which produce up to 62A, it will support many peripheral devices without any problems.
Conclusion: If you are after a powerful yet quiet modular PSU with all the cables you need for multi-GPUs or future upgrades, then the Thermaltake Toughpower Qfan 850W is an excellent choice.

What is Eco-Friendly? | |
| Thermaltake aims to develop power supply units that make contributions to preserving the environment. In this way, all Thermaltake’s power supply designers take the Eco-Friendly Design guidelines into account when developing new products. Eco-Friendly Design is an engineering perspective in which at least one of the four eco-friendly design priorities (shown below) is considered and optimized. |
Thermaltake’s power supply designers are committed to reduce the energy consumption needed to use our products. Currently many of Thermaltake high performance power supply units have been certified by 80 PLUS Energy Efficiency Program for their excellent ability to energy saving. Thermaltake will continue to enhance the efficiency for our power supply units and also reduce the energy consumption needed to power our PSUs.
| | | | |
| Thermaltake is committed to reduce or substitute the use of hazardous substances. We maintain strict control over the chemical substances used, and take steps whenever possible to avoid the use of hazardous substances. Currently all Thermaltake power supply units are made from green materials and all RoHS compliant. |
Thermaltake
is committed to reduce the noise generated by our power supply units.
Researches have shown that noise can be annoying and even harmful to
human health. To protect human health, some of our specific PSUs come
with the patented QFan technology which minimizes the noise to the
lowest level. |
| Thermaltake is committed to incorporate recyclable materials into all the new power supply units whenever possible. Therefore all Thermaltake products comply with WEEE which requires recycling of electronic and electrical products. |
